Trimming Roses

Roses

Spring is a great time to prune in the mid-south. Proper pruning allows for better flowers and a healthier plant. Removal of dead canes and stems, makes for a healthier and more beautiful plant. Make your pruning cuts above a leaf bud that points toward the outside of the plant. Prune to thin and open up the center of the plant, this allows for more air circulation and will reduce the odds of disease. If your roses are getting too tall, you may reduce the height and width of the plant as well.
